Honest County Report

Editorial policy

Honest County Report aims to make rural life easier to understand without making it sound simpler than it is. We write in plain English, distinguish explanation from opinion and take care not to present general observations as rules for every place.

Accuracy and context

We check factual statements against suitable material before publication and review the context around them. We avoid unsupported claims, keep uncertainty visible and do not invent people, organizations, events or evidence. Where a subject varies by place, we say so rather than imply that one account applies everywhere.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers. A partner does not determine our conclusions or receive a promise of favourable coverage. Sponsored or partner material is identified clearly so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work.

Corrections

If a reader spots a possible error, they can contact us with the page and the detail in question. We review correction requests and, when a change is needed, amend the text in a way that makes the correction clear. We do not quietly preserve a known error.

Illustrations

Some illustrations on the site are AI-generated. Illustrations are not evidence for factual claims, and we aim to avoid presenting an illustrative image as a documentary record of a real place or event.
