Write for us

We welcome pitches from writers who can make an aspect of rural life clear, specific and engaging for general readers. Send proposals through the Contact page; a concise note is enough to begin.

What we are looking for

Pitch considered explainers, comparisons, accounts of how a custom or place works, or histories that illuminate something readers can still notice today. Useful subjects include land and local routes, community life, rural work, services and changing traditions.

A strong pitch

Tell us the central question, the main point you want readers to take away and why it suits Honest County Report. Include a brief outline and any relevant experience or material you can bring to the subject. Keep claims proportionate to what you can support, and flag uncertainty or place-specific limits.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option to send your proposal. Please do not submit a complete article unless it has been requested. We cannot promise that every pitch will receive a response or be accepted.
